The clinical utility of our expanding knowledge and our increasing array of biochemical tests will not be fulfilled without a close  communication between laboratory medicine and clinical practice. Although new methods of distributing information and results are being developed continuously  the basic principles of communication will be increasingly essential. The presentation will not only  discuss aspects such as nautical radiotelephony and story-telling , but also present experiences relating to  problem-based discussions, communication aims and follow up. It will highlight the fact that clinicians don’t care about methodology, never think in Excel and fall asleep to PowerPoint (especially if it’s got graphs in them!).
